MS has confirmed that it is to cut a total of 5,000 jobs due to the difficult economy over the next 18 months. However, 1400 jobs are to be let go immediately and jobs across all of its departments such as legal, HR, R&D and other business functions will be quit. "We are not immune to the effects of the economy," said Steve Ballmer.
